Arnold Gene Schurlknight

Arnold “Gene” Schurlknight, 76, husband of Elma Bultman Schurlknight,  entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at Veterans Victory House.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, February 20, 2026, at Harbeson Cemetery, 3007 Wire Road, St. George (Grover).

Arnold was born on September 17, 1949, a son of the late Clifton Schurlknight and Ethel Lyons Schurlknight. He served in the US Marine Reserve and worked as a Charleston district firefighter.  He later became a firefighter at the Charleston Naval Base until his retirement. He was a member of Holmes Avenue Baptist Church. Arnold loved washing and polishing his cars and spending time fishing.

Surviving is his wife, Elma B. Schurlknight; daughter, Jeannie S. Elliott; grandson, Jonah Elliott, all of Ravenel; brothers, Floyd (Mary) Schurlknight, Ralph Schurlknight and Glenn (Ruthie) Schurlknight.

Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Chicago, Illinois or Veterans Victory House.
